…And More To Come!
I’ve been broadcasting over the internet for over a decade now. It started way back in 2012 when DJ Darqen and I used to co-host Night Flight on a now-defunct radio station that was devoted to the game Star Trek Online. He and I would be “in-game” for each show, usually on a transport ship like a Tuffli Freighter or a D’Kora Marauder. It was fun times and it was the hook, line, and sinker for me and internet radio. I eventually had to go solo, and the Magic Carpet Ride with Jude Connors was born.
When I started Magic Carpet Ride, I was unhappy with the removal of DJ Darqen and I fired back at the station management with “The Last DJ” by Tom Petty to start my first show. Ironically, I ended my last show on that station with the same song. Anyway, the program was an instant hit, and I created regular segments like 12 Inches of Jude and the Bong Song. Despite having Magic Carpet Ride with Jude Connors on numerous stations throughout the years, those segments are still a part of the show today.
2022 makes completes my first decade in internet broadcasting. I’ve done talk radio, music DJing, production work and even run a few internet radio stations, including XRadio, which is now also a production company. Along the way, I have learned a few things and also got more involved in club DJing; as well as spinning the tunes in virtual worlds like Second Life. I also did some volunteer work with a terrestrial community radio station. With all that experience, I decided it was time to syndicate the Magic Carpet Ride.
Today you can find Magic Carpet Ride with Jude Connors on a couple of great stations, including Splash Damage Radio. In the next few weeks, we will be premiering on a few other internet radio stations and the show will also be available “over-the-air” on the terrestrial radio station Waveney Valley Radio. In addition, archives are available on Mixcloud.
Thank you all for this magical musical trip. There are very few things I love in life more than playing music for you all! It’s been an amazing decade and there’s still more to come!
